HQ

ADMA-OPCO's main offices changed locations in the capital as the Company's operations and organizational structure expanded and developed. Left: The Main Office on Khalifa Street in 1973. Right: The Federal Building, also on Khalifa Street, which was use to house offshore-based employees shuttling between the fields and Abu Dhabi city. The building, which no longer exists, was also used as a focal point for social and recreational activities for the ADMA community.

In 1981, the offices moved to a sprawling Office Complex, in the Tourist Club Area.
The complex, made up of two six-storey blocks linked by a bridge, was expanded
with the addition of Al-Nakheel Club facilities and the Transit Bachelor Mess, in the background.

In 1997, the Headquarters moved from the location hosting Abu Dhabi mall to the current building facing the corniche area. Its front side glass atrium reflects the blue water of the gulf facing Abu Dhabi city. The Headquarters hosts all ADMA business units (General Management, Production, Drilling, Development and Administration Services). The company location provides easy access for all visitors and business partners who conduct regular business visits.  Other office locations are extended outside the main building at Al-Gaith and Al-Masoud towers in the city center. The offices are connected through one Data and Voice network and transportation is provided every half an hour to facilitate internal business meetings and mail.

ADMA-OPCO’s operations are centered in the offshore areas of Abu Dhabi. The Company’s concession includes two major fields--Umm Shaif, which lies some 150 kilometers north-west of the city of Abu Dhabi and Zakum which lies 55 kilometers south east of Umm Shaif. Zakum is one of the largest offshore oil fields in the world. The crude is collected from these fields using giant steel structures called super complexes, and then transferred to Das Island, a nearby industrial base, to process, store and export.

The first oil discovery in Abu Dhabi was made in 1958 in Umm Shaif and the first oil shipment exported from Abu Dhabi to the world market was on July 4th, 1962 from the same field through Das Island Oil Terminal.

Das, an island about 180 kilometeres from Abu Dhabi, was selected as a base for the Company’s offshore operations.  Today Das Island is a burgeoning industrial complex with various oil and gas installations, tanker berths, an airport, medical facilities, modern accommodation and recreational buildings and storage and export facilities.

Over the years, the Company adopted the latest in drilling techniques and technologies, starting with vertical, the deviated and ultimately horizontal drilling. The advancement in drilling is necessitated by the need to optimize oil and gas production.
